What wardrobe is complete without a shawl or two or twenty? I know that I reach for my shawls to add warmth, beauty, elegance, and color to my outfits. The beauty of a handspun shawl is that if it turns out your grist or gauge is slightly off, your shawl will likely still fit! Shawls are the perfect way to experiment with a new fiber type or try out lace for the first time. And yet,

shawls aren’t just beginner projects—they can be simple or complex, fast or labor-intensive. Shawls can be anything you want them to be: from purely functional to incredibly expressive, easy to challenging, loudly colorful to subtly neutral. Here are seven handspun shawls taken from past issues of Spin.Off, to get your spinning wheel purring and your needles, hooks, or looms clicking.

All of Halcyon Yarn's ebooks, are printed in full color on acid-free coated stock, saddle-stitched and ready for immediate browsing and convenient posting next to your wheel.
